DIAGNOSTIC SERVICES
Diagnostic Imaging
Our surgeons and physicians use state-of-the-art diagnostic services to review your injury. These imaging options are used for diagnosis, to improve treatment, and to monitor healing. Every Orthopaedic Associates office has digital x-ray and a trained staff member, ready to assist you with your xrayreading. If you have any questions about an upcoming appointment, please contact us at 812-424-921 and we’ll connect you with a trained imaging technologist.
X-Ray
Digital X-ray is available at all four full-time OA offices. Advancements in X-ray technology allow for more detailed scans and better portability. If you’ve had scans done recently at another facility, please make our office aware. We may ask that you bring in your scans, either on film or on a disc, so we can better assess your injury. If you have received xrays at a Deaconess location, OA is able to access those records through your MyChart.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic Resonance Imaging is only available at our OA-East/Newburgh office. MRI uses powerful magnetic fields and radio waves to create detailed pictures of areas inside your body. These images are used to distinguish normal, healthy soft tissue from diseased tissue. If you’ve had scans at another facility recently, please make our office aware. We may ask that you bring in your scans, either on film or on a disc, so we can better assess your injury.
Orthopaedic Ultrasonography
Physicians and Surgeons at OA-East and OA-West are able to use ultrasound to get a high resolution look at a patient’s injury in realtime. These portable machines allow patients lie in a comfortable position, without pain or claustrophobia, while providers review their bones, joints and cartilage.
