Foot And Ankle Surgical Fellowship

Objectives

The primary goals of the fellowship include:

• Advanced Surgical Skills: Fellows will refine their surgical techniques through hands-on experience in a wide range of procedures, including arthroscopy, ankle and foot reconstruction, minimally invasive surgery, and total ankle replacement.
• Clinical Expertise: Gain in-depth knowledge in the management of complex foot and ankle conditions, including trauma, arthritis, and sports injuries.
• Research and Education: Engage in research initiatives that contribute to the field of foot and ankle surgery and participate in educational opportunities, including lectures and workshops.

Program Structure

Duration

The fellowship lasts for one year, commencing on August 1st each year.

Clinical Rotations

Fellows will participate in various clinical rotations that encompass:

• Surgical Training: Directly assisting and performing surgeries under the supervision of experienced faculty.
• Outpatient Clinics: Evaluating and managing patients with diverse foot and ankle conditions in a clinical setting.
• Fellows will run their own clinic under direct supervision of the director.

Didactic Components

The fellowship includes:

• Weekly Conferences: Participation in case discussions and grand rounds.
• Journal Club: Reviewing and presenting current literature to enhance understanding of evolving practices in foot and ankle surgery.

Research Opportunities

Fellows will have access to ongoing research projects and the opportunity to develop their own research initiatives. Support for presenting findings at local, regional, and national conferences will be provided.

Mentorship

Fellows will work closely with a dedicated team of faculty members who are leaders in the field of foot and ankle surgery. Personalized mentorship will guide fellows in their professional development and enhance their clinical acumen.

Application Process

Interested candidates should submit the following materials:

• A completed ACFAS application form with all supporting documents.

*Application must be submitted by May 1st (going into your third year of residency)

Eligibility

Candidates must have completed an accredited podiatric (PMSR/RRA) surgery residency program and be board-eligible or board-certified.
